Onion Knight

Onion Knight Name: Onion Knight
Japanese name: オニオン ナイト (Onion Naito)
Also known as: Luneth (after the FFIII DS character & his alternate form)
Hails from: Final Fantasy III, in which he is all the playable characters and none of them at once.
Fighting type: Magic Fencer / Mystic Fencer
Seiyuu/Voice Actor: Jun Fukuyama / Aaron Spann
Manliness level: 4/10 (he's just a kid!)

Story

Our second hero without an actual name, Onion Knight spends most of his time trying to protect Terra, with so-so results until he stops being a wimp. (Nice move there, Square, put the only girl hero with the kid.) The good thing about this is that it gives the Onion Knight an actual change to develop his character and a reason to fight, which the original FFIII never had. It doesn't stop him from being a total smartass the entire way through, though.

Thoughts

You actually have to feel kind of sad for the Onion Knight — he got a name and some personality in FFIII, and what does Dissidia do? Give him a not!name and turn him into a kid with a legendary job class. Way to go there, Square. Personally, I fail at using him, as I always miss with his attacks, and his EX Mode is so not non-Japanese-player friendly. It's much easier in the English version, thankfully. Somehow, though, I completely missed out on how much of a smartass he is, and so now instead of finding him cute in his little avoiding-battles business, I think he's kind of annoying. Maybe I just liked his Japanese voice better.

Gameplay

Like I said above, I'm not great with Onion Knight. Mostly I try not to trip and fall and rely more on long-distance attacks instead of going straight to the opponent. Fighting him can be tricky because the AI doesn't fail at using him, so evading his Blade Torrent is a must.
